In May, we sponsored the journey of 40 Knights in White Lycra ((KIWL) cycling 550 km from Tokyo to Ichinoseki to raise money for underprivileged children. It’s already the fifth year in which Boyd & Moore has supported the KIWL, a Tokyo-based, all-inclusive, amateur cycling team with the desire to ‘get fit & give back’ by raising funds and awareness for community projects in Japan.

Although only 39 of the 40 starters made it safely to the finish line (one had to return home after breaking a collarbone – he’s fine, according to the organizers!) the event was a great success. At the end of their ride the Knights were not only greeted by the smiling faces of the kids at the Ichinoseki children’s home but had also raised close to 11M JPY – a record in the organization’s history!

The money will be used to support the activities of the NPO Mirai no Mori, including summer and winter camps for children in need as well as a youth leadership training program.
