A North American $6B market intelligence firm specializing in the healthcare industry required a Senior Principal to build their Asia Pacific business focused on Health Outcomes.
Health Outcomes is a highly niche area in which we have significant experience having placed specialists in 13 countries across 3 continents.
In Asia Pacific there is an especially limited pool of candidates as the region is well behind North America and Europe. The client understood our track record and asked for assistance in identifying someone to build their business in this area.
There were very few viable candidates who could be considered for the role as the required combination of business development, team leadership, regional knowledge, and technical expertise in the area of health outcomes is in short supply.
There was the additional challenge that the client had reputation issues from the past that could adversely affect market interest in the role. There was one especially suitable candidate who was resistant to consider the opportunity due to this issue.
We invested significant time in building a relationship over a period of months to bring him to the table and speak informally with the client. The process ultimately lasted 9 months but the candidate was gradually convinced of the benefits of the company and the prospects of the business in the region. For the client, it was an especially strategic hire; since the candidate came from their primary competitor who were forced to close their Asia Pacific operations once he left.
