Boyd & Moore Executive Search recently hosted Leading Japan Forward, a leadership discussion that brought together senior leaders operating across Japan, APAC, and global organisations.
Designed as a conversation rather than a formal seminar, the session focused on why leadership feels more complex today and what that means in practice. In global matrix organisations, decision-making, accountability, and alignment are rarely straightforward. Many of the challenges leaders face are structural rather than a reflection of individual capability.
Led by Arif Iqball and James Feliciano of Aesara Partners, the session focused on practical adaptive leadership actions and behaviours that support high performance in such matrixed organisations, with a central theme around how senior leaders can practically translate intent into clear recommendations and aligned action across their leadership teams.
The conversation brought together a group of senior executives and board-level leaders, including country managers, general managers, regional and global functional leaders, CEOs, and board members. With representation from multinational and high-growth organisations across sectors, many participants operate at the intersection of local, regional, and global priorities, making the topic of discussion particularly relevant.
Our Partnership with Aesara reflects a shared belief that long-term leadership impact is multi-faceted. Boyd & Moore partners with organisations to identify and appoint senior leaders for critical roles, while Aesara Partners specialises in how those leaders integrate, and operate within complex organisational environments, navigating decision-making, alignment, and accountability.
Following the session, guests continued the discussion over drinks, exchanging perspectives across industries and leadership contexts.
Leading Japan Forward marked the first in what we intend to be an ongoing series of leadership discussions. We look forward to hosting future events that continue to explore leadership challenges in Japan and across the region, and to welcoming both familiar and new faces at upcoming sessions.
